Organisers of Edinburgh’s 25th annual pride event have revealed the event will be cancelled until 2020 due to coronavirus.
The parade scheduled for June, which celebrates LGBTQ+ culture, is one of Edinburgh’s biggest events attracting people from all over the Loathian's.
Organisers said on a letter published on Twitter that the decisions came “with a heavy heart.”
The letter also said “This isn’t a goodbye letter but rather a ‘see you later’ letter- Pride Edinburgh will now be in Summer 20201.
“We take this opportunity to thank our team, partners and sponsors and the LGBTQ+ community of Scotland who continued support and relentless desire to help us celebrate love in the city of Edinburgh.
“Stay safe Edinburgh and we’ll see you soon.”

Twitter users expressed their sadness about the cancelling of the event.
@mathujonson wrote, “Words cannot describe the dismay I’m feeling. I was so looking forward to Pride this year.”
Another, @Me_Tranquillo wrote, “The only sensible decision really. But I’m still sad about it.”
The festival, which originated from the stonewall riots in New York in 1969, had the moto “let it be” and was likely to feature marchers from all different parts of Edinburgh’s LGBTQ+ community
With the ever developing problems with coronavirus however, it may only be one of many pride events cancelled around the UK.
